Best Handgun for Big Game?

I haven't got into hunting with a handgun but am eager to try.

What is the best caliber and round to shoot big game?

I had at one time a 454 Casull Ruger Super Redhawk....Now let me tell ya, I dropped deer out to around 80 yards....HOWEVER, the first shot wasn't bad, but after the second shot the ears were ringing sooooo bad I couldn't hear for about 6 hours!:eek:

I really like the Ruger Super Redhawk .44 mag 7 1/2" barrel w/260g Cor-Bon Hunter BCHP.Gives boar hogs nasty headaches.:D
