Not sure about that....it has been really cold here the past couple months. The weather is finally doing what it should have done in October! Bad year for the deer for sure.

Here are some pictures of the deer harvested the last 4 days of Alabama deer Season. I was hunting with one of my outfitters in the Black Belt region of Alabama. Their rut happens in January! Four nice bucks in 4 days. This was Camille's first deer. Check out the bloody cheeks. She was a trooper. Sat in her ladder stand all day 23 degrees and blowing.
The antlers in bags are going to the taxidermist. They were from January 15 to the 30th.
What a great place to finish the season! I will be back next year.

I was fortunate to start my season Aug 15 in South Carolina. Spent a week in SE Ohio for their bow season opener. Hunted my personal lease in Georgia all season and finished in Alabama. I had a great year.

Virginia is definetly the place to kill Whitetail. Season in Loudoun Co. starts the first of Sep. and lasts until the last weekend in March. Limit: 2/day. Only three bucks but the yearlings (vealson) drag easy and eat real good. There are some trophies but the landowners just want the deer gone. Unfortunately, I retired to Western NC last April and only was able to make four trips and stopped at 12 this season. Last year 08/09 season I was able to pile up 45. It's not really a hunting experience but the freezer doesn't know the difference. The "Hunters for the Hungry" butcher made over $30,000.00 at $20.00 per.

We did well in Virginia this year too. My 9 year old son got his first deer.
Hope we do as well with the Turkey!
