Default Excalibur Vortex Crossbow

I personally have changed over from Compound hunting to a Crossbow. The way I see it - I want my best chance to kill a deer during bow season.

I purchased a Excalibur Vortex back in 2008 and absolutely love it! I have shot deer at 50 yards and would not hesitate to shoot up to 70 yards.

My best combination is Easton Powerbolts(Which are Excalibur Firebolts) with a 125 Grain G5 Montec Broadhead. Very accurate broadhead.

I agree with crossbow hunting as well. Purchased an Excalibur Phoenix and took my nephew on his 1st hunt......he got a doe! The Excalibur is an extremely accurate weapon that is very simple because it has less moving parts. If you are trying one for the 1st time, you have to ignore the noise. They all sound extremely loud compared to our modern compund bows. So anyone out there contemplating a crossbow, please try it because it is just another way to get out in the woods and do what we all love so much! Plus, here in Texas, I can now take my son hunting in October even though he is not strong enough to pull back a hunting bow yet.......bonus!!

Yep, the noise can cause a little concern. I've tried everything in the book to reduce the noise on my vortex. Not much has worked, but I do like the Double STS System. It seems to take some of the the vibration out of the limbs.

Even with the noise, I've killed deer at 50 yards and they never knew what him them! It's coming too fast for them to react to the noise!
